What Are Soap Flakes?
Soap flakes are soap. Grated. That is the whole product.
Not a separate product with a separate formula. Not a detergent powder rebranded as something artisan. Not a new idea.
Ours are grated from our own bars — the same cold process soaps we make and sell whole. Mostly the cleaner batches: the Spearmint, the Cinnamon, the Almond Milk, the Carrot. Soaps without seeds or herbs embedded in them that would make grating awkward and the flakes uneven in texture. One scent at a time. Not a mixed bag of everything.
Vasilis grates them by hand. He describes this as a workout. He is not wrong.
The result is 1kg of soap flakes in a cloth sack. The same oils that went into the bar — Koroneiki olive oil from our grove, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, castor oil, whatever else is in that specific soap's formula — are in the flakes. The INCI is the same as the bar it came from.
What you use them for
Laundry. Hand washing delicates. Cleaning surfaces. The dog. Whatever needs cleaning in your life that isn't your conscience.
Dissolve a tablespoon in warm water before adding to a cold machine. They clean. They don't produce theatrical foam. Real soap rarely does.
What are soap flakes?
Shredded bar soap, sold by weight. The shape is the only thing that changes, and what it changes is how quickly the soap dissolves — which is the entire reason to want it. A bar in a washing machine is a bar sitting at the bottom of a washing machine.
How to dose them in a wash and how they compare to detergent are their own entries. This one is only about what is in the sack.
What they are not
A different product. A special formula. A sustainability innovation. They are our soap, in a different physical form, grated by hand, in a cloth sack you can reuse.
